The Poster Award(backup)

About the award

The need to establish an XRM Poster Award has been identified at the XRM2018 conference in Saskatoon, Canada by members of the IAC, LOC and the WMI award committee. Leftover funds from the XRM2018 conference have been donated as a first endowment of the XRM Poster Award allowing the inauguration of the award at the forthcoming XRM2020 conference.

The Poster Award is given to young scientists for an exceptional poster presentation exemplifying the advancement of x-ray microscopy through either outstanding technical developments or applications. There will be up to four (4) awards distributed at each XRM conference. Each awardee receives a certificate and a cash prize of $500.

Students and Post-docs (or equivalent positions) are eligible for the XRM Poster Award. One person can only apply for the poster award for one submission. The nominee must be the first author of the poster and present the poster in person at the meeting.

Conference attendees will be able to self-nominate during the abstract submission process. They need to certify that they fulfil the eligibility requirements and provide the projected or actual date of their PhD-defense. If it is determined later that they do not meet the eligibility requirements they are disqualified. The deadline for nominations is concurrent with the abstract submission deadline. It is at the discretion of the co-chair of the award committee to allow late abstract submission which gets accepted to the conference to enter as poster award nominations. Nominees should supply name, affiliation, CV, and contact information in advance of the conference. For late submissions that get accepted, please contact the XRM Poster Award administrator (see below) by email.

The Ranking Criteria for the Poster Award will be applied to all nominees equally. These include the quality of the abstract and the related conference proceeding paper, the quality of the poster, the originality and proven own contribution of the presented results, the likely or demonstrated impact of the presented research.

The selection of the award winners will be made by the International Advisory Committee members present at the conference.  Announcement of winners and awards will be made at a special session during the end of the conference.

The administration of the poster award will be done by the co-chair of the XRM Award Committee, Michael Feser, who will also be the contact person for nomination submission or questions.
