Dear colleague,
the X-ray microscopy conference XRM2022 in Taipei is coming up quickly. We all are looking forward to an exciting and lively conference with exciting talks and fruitful discussions. A highlight for our young colleagues is for sure the possibility to be nominated with the Werner Meyer-Ilse Award for excellence in their PhD-thesis. As the chair of the Award Committee, I am writing to you to solicit nominations. If you have a young scientist in your group who has finished the PhD-thesis within the last two years or is about to finish it in the very near future and who has been outstanding, please do not hesitate to send in a nomination for the WMI award.
To be eligible for the award, basically, it is necessary to have:
• the WMI nomination form filled out (the template can be downloaded from the XRM2022 websitehttps://indico.nsrrc.org.tw/event/4/page/116-werner-meyer-ilse-award ),
• the CV of the nominee ( as pdf),
• reprints of publications (pdf-files), and
• letters of recommendation (as pdf-files).
Please send these documents to me (jthieme@bnl.gov). The nominee has to give an oral presentation at the conference focused on the thesis work. Therefore, the nominee has to submit an abstract in time. The deadline is March 31. In close cooperation with the local organization committee, I will make sure a time slot for the talk will be available. Writers of the letters of recommendations might not be able to meet the deadline, but if these letters come a bit later, I can still add them to the submission.
I am looking forward to nominations covering exciting topics.
